Registering Domains and Identity Providers

Before you can manually associate a ProjectWise user account with an external user account, you must register the system where the external account was created and is managed.

To associate a ProjectWise account with a Windows domain account, you need to register the user's domain.

To associate a ProjectWise account with other external identity providers, you need to register the URL of the identity provider, and specify which authentication type or protocol the identity provider will use. While the system can be configured to connect to any external identity provider, this documentation describes how to set up identity providers for Bentley IMS).

Add a Windows Domain

Note: It is possible that another action has automatically added a domain to the list of domains, such as making a Windows account the default administrator account when creating the datasource.

Right-click the Windows Domains node and select New > Domain.
In the New Windows Domain Properties dialog:
- In the Domain field, enter your domain name.
- Click OK.
